Time Management and Side Hustles

Time Management and Side Hustles

Just the phrase "time management" can make you cringe.....but it can also make you money! Many people are pursing a passion on the side while holding full-time jobs.  This means that time is your most valuable resource so you need to use it wisely! Time management is about taking responsibility for yourself and the way you work- finding time for your passion, your personal life, and your other responsibilities. Viewing tasks in terms of chunks of time and categories will positively impact your time management.

1. NEVER go to bed without a plan for tomorrow. Write down items that didn't get accomplished that day (this will happen just have a plan) and items that need accomplished the next day. It is best to plan 2 days out at the latest to keep things feasible.

 2. Review all of the items on the task list and attempt to group items together in a way that makes sense. For example, if you have a bunch of small tasks that need finished, group those items together and call that category "quick and dirty." Same goes for phone calls or writing emails, clump those into a category called "admin tasks"

 3. Next, create a ranking system that you can relate to for each task/category. For example, I use 1-5 with 1 being "it will not impact my life" to 5 which means "it will keep me up that night if I do not complete."

4.The final step is to write your priority numbers beside each category and estimate the amount time for task completion.  Planning in chunks of time will allow you to get more done and plan your day more effectively.

Use a planner that works for you, there are so many varying from full days to hour by hour, and schedule tasks categories into your planner. Start by scheduling your priority 5 items and asking yourself if you need to get to your priority 1 or if they can be delegated or moved to a wish list. A wish list is simply for you to refer back to later in the month when you have free time. This simple method will free your time up to work on new art, marketing, and any other items that get overlooked! It will minimize burnout and keep your creative juices flowing!

Performance Management for Managers -March 5th

This course was developed to assist managers with the skill gap of performance management. Performance management is an exciting process that involves working with the individual and the organization to improve organizational effectiveness to accomplish a specific goal or mission. However, when an individual gets promoted, there isn’t always a formal training to help with the transition from employee to manager.  The intent of this course is to assist new and old leaders with planning work outcomes, setting realistic expectations, and creating a culture that strives for success.
The object of this course is for each student to understand how to set reasonable goals during the goal planning process. I want students to leave this course feeling excited about handling conflict because they are armed with the right tools to have productive conversations. This will be done through collaborating with employees and creating a culture of ownership.
Most importantly, you will learn to create accountability among your staff and yourself.
